「祥瑞」とは元々、中国明代末期に景徳鎮で作られた染付の茶器のことで
茶陶の染付では最上のものとされています。
当時の日本の茶人の注文で、景徳鎮の民窯で焼かれていた
ということが分かっています。
祥瑞の器種は様々ありますが、この蜜柑水指も特に有名なものの一つとなっています。
それを膳所焼が写して作った水指ということになります。
蜜柑の形を模して作られており、全体に丸っこい形をしています。
蓋にはへたと葉っぱ8枚ほどが形として作られており、立体的な造形となっています。
柄は多くの部分が唐草と花、人がほぼすき間なくびっしりと描かれています。
口の下の周囲には間取りがたくさんあり、その中に山水画や青海波、菱文、
丸文などが描かれています。
内側は真っ白で全くの無地ですが、外側はほぼ全面にわたり描かれており
相当な手間と技術が注がれています。

Zeze Ware – Shonzui “Mandarin Orange” Water Jar (Mizusashi)
This is an introduction to a Shonzui-style mandarin orange–shaped mizusashi from Zeze ware.
Originally, Shonzui refers to blue-and-white tea wares produced at Jingdezhen in China during the late Ming dynasty, and they are regarded as the finest examples of underglaze blue decoration among tea ceramics.
It is known that these pieces were fired at folk kilns in Jingdezhen at the request of Japanese tea practitioners of the time.
There are many different forms of Shonzui vessels, and this mandarin orange–shaped mizusashi is one of the most famous among them.
This piece is a utsushi (faithful reproduction) made in Zeze ware based on that tradition.
Modeled after the shape of a mandarin orange, it has an overall rounded form.
The lid is sculpted with a stem and approximately eight leaves, creating a highly three-dimensional design.
Most of the surface is densely covered with motifs of arabesques, flowers, and figures, leaving very little empty space.
Around the circumference just below the mouth are numerous framed panels, within which landscapes, seigaiha (wave) patterns, lozenge motifs, circular designs, and other motifs are depicted.
While the interior is completely plain and pure white, the exterior is decorated over nearly its entire surface, reflecting the remarkable amount of labor and skill invested in its creation.

被视为茶陶青花之中的最高等级。
据悉，这类器物当年是应日本茶人之订制，
由景德镇的民窑烧制而成。
祥瑞样式的器型种类繁多，
其中这件蜜柑形水指尤为著名，
本品即是由膳所烧依其原型摹制而成的水指。
整体以蜜柑的形态为蓝本制作，
外形圆润饱满。
器盖上塑有果蒂及约八枚叶片的造型，
呈现出富有立体感的雕塑式表现。
纹样方面，
大量区域密集绘饰唐草、花卉与人物图案，
几乎不留空白。
在口沿下方一周划分出多个画面区块，
其内分别描绘有山水画、青海波、菱纹、
圆纹等多种传统纹样。
器物内侧通体洁白、完全素面，
而外侧几乎满绘纹饰，
可见其制作过程中倾注了极高的工时与精湛的技艺。
