The flowers to be arranged, along with a mizusashi (water container) and a small knife, are placed on this stand while preparing the flower arrangement in the tokonoma alcove. The cedar base follows the Rikyu style, and when in use the jointed seam should be positioned facing outward (away from the host). This is a high-quality flower stand made entirely from straight-grain Japanese domestic cedar. It is extremely lightweight, and the surface on which flowers and utensils are placed has a textured finish resembling hegime (split-grain carving). Although designed for the tea ceremony, it is a tool that can be used for many other purposes as well. 越前塗から木製の丸香台のご紹介です。 「丸香台」とは、茶道では花入れの下に敷く花台といえるもので 床の間が畳床になっている場合に使います。 花入は、真・行・草の中の「草の花入」を 丸香台の上に置くという約束事があります。 「草の花入」とは、伊賀、信楽、備前、南蛮などの釉薬がかかっていないものや 一重切り、二重切りなどの竹の花入や篭の花入れも「草」ということになります。 この丸香台は円形で、ある程度の厚みがあり拭きうるし塗りなので 細かな木目が見えて、自然の木の風合いがとてもいいです。 色は明るい溜色で、柔らかい印象があります。 花入れだけでなく、置物やその他のものを飾って頂いても いいかもしれません。 径　３２ｃｍ　　高さ　１．５ｃｍ 木製　　拭きうるし塗り
