和田菁竺 作の風炉用の炭斗（すみとり）の

ご紹介です。

炭斗とは茶道の炭点前の際、炭や火箸などの

道具類を入れて持ち出す器です。

この炭斗は背が高めの寸胴型で口が円形で

底が四角く底は四つ脚となっています。

胴の下三分の二は細かい網代編みで

上部三分の一は縦編みの透かしのように

洒落た編み方がなされています。

口の部分から脚部まで細かく丁寧な仕上げが

なされています。

こちらは裏千家　淡々斎宗匠のお好みを

写して作られています。

内側は紙が貼られ黒く塗られており汚れが

目立たないようにされています。

茶道で使う炭には炉用と風炉用があり、

炉用は１１月から４月まで

風炉用は５月から１０月まで使われます。

炉用の炭は太く大きい炭が使われるため、

炭斗も大きめで風炉用の炭は細く小さいので

炭斗も径が小さく小ぶりになります。

底の部分は平らになっており多くのものを

安定して入れることが出来ます。

非常に軽く割れることもほぼないので、

本来の炭斗以外の使い方もできそうです。

Charcoal Basket (Sumitori) “Seifū Kago” by Wada Syojiku – In the Style Preferred by Tantansai

This is a charcoal basket (sumitori) for the furo (portable brazier) style of tea ceremony, crafted by Wada Syojiku.

A sumitori is a container used during the charcoal procedure (sumidemae) in the tea ceremony, for carrying charcoal, metal chopsticks (hibashi), and other related utensils.

This particular basket has a tall, cylindrical shape with a round opening and a square base, which stands on four legs.

The lower two-thirds of the body is finely woven in a traditional ajiro (diagonal plaiting) pattern, while the upper third is done in a vertical open-weave style, giving it an elegant and refined appearance.

From the rim to the legs, the basket is meticulously and delicately finished.

This piece is crafted in imitation of the preferred style of Tantansai, a former head of the Urasenke school of tea.

The interior is lined with paper and painted black, making any dirt less noticeable.

In tea ceremony, charcoal is divided into ro (sunken hearth) and furo (portable brazier) types.
Ro charcoal is used from November to April, while furo charcoal is used from May to October.

Because ro charcoal is larger and thicker, the corresponding charcoal baskets are also larger. In contrast, furo charcoal is smaller and thinner, so its baskets are correspondingly more compact in diameter and size.

The base of this basket is flat, allowing items to be stably placed inside.

It is extremely lightweight and rarely breaks, making it potentially suitable for uses beyond its original purpose as a sumitori.

为您介绍由和田菁竺制作的用于风炉的炭斗。

所谓炭斗，是茶道中在进行炭手前时，用来盛放炭火、火筷等用具，并将其携带出席的器具。

这件炭斗为高身圆筒形，上口为圆形，底部为方形，并带有四个脚。

器身下部约三分之二采用细致的篾编（网代编织）工艺，上部三分之一则为纵向编织，呈现出类似镂空的别致设计。

从口沿到脚部，都经过了细腻且精致的加工处理。

此件作品仿制了裏千家流派的淡淡斋宗匠所钟爱的款式。

内侧贴有纸，并涂成黑色，以避免污渍显眼。

茶道所使用的炭分为炉用与风炉用两种：

炉用炭用于每年11月至翌年4月，
风炉用炭则用于每年5月至10月。

由于炉用炭较粗大，因此所用的炭斗也较为宽大；而风炉用炭较细小，相应地炭斗的口径也较小，体积更为小巧。

底部为平坦结构，可稳定地盛放多种物品。

本品重量极轻，几乎不易破损，因此除了作为传统炭斗使用外，也适合作其他用途。
