越前塗から木製、女桑の茶箱のご紹介です。

茶箱とは茶道の点前道具を一式仕込んだ

携帯用の箱のことです。（箱のみ）

抹茶を旅先や野点（野外）で点てて

飲むための木製の箱です。

塗りや材質は様々ですが、最初の利休型は

桐木地で宗旦好みは朱塗り一閑張りです。

茶筅を納めるための穴が空いた掛け子蓋が

付きます。

本来、茶箱には点前の決まりはありません

でしたが裏千家では、玄々斎宗室によって、

点前が考案されました。

この茶箱は女桑の木地なので、木目が見え

侘びたレトロな雰囲気があります。

塗りではないので、傷が目立ちにくく

気軽にお使い頂けます。

表面はよく磨きがかけられているので、

ツルツルで手間がかかっています。

Echizen Lacquerware Tea Box – Me-guwa (Mulberry) Wood, Wooden

This is an introduction to a wooden tea box made of Me-guwa (female mulberry) in Echizen lacquerware.

A chabako is a portable box designed to hold a complete set of utensils for performing the tea ceremony.
(This item is the box only.)

It is a wooden box used for preparing and enjoying matcha while traveling or during nodate (open-air tea gatherings).

While a variety of lacquers and woods are used, the earliest Rikyu-style tea box was made from plain paulownia wood, and the Sotan-preferred style features vermilion-lacquered ikkanbari (paper-laminated) construction.

The box comes with an inner tray lid (kakeko-futa) with a hole for storing the tea whisk.

Originally, there were no formal procedures associated specifically with the chabako, but within the Urasenke tradition, tea procedures were established by the 11th-generation head, Gengensai Soshitsu.

Because this tea box is made from natural Me-guwa wood, the grain is visible and it has a subdued, nostalgic wabi-inspired character.

As it is not lacquered, scratches are less noticeable, making it easy to use casually.

The surface is carefully polished to a smooth, glossy finish, reflecting the considerable workmanship involved.
