越前漆器から木製の干菓子器のご紹介です。
杉の木地を加工して作られた茶道などでは
乾いたお菓子を盛る、平たい漆器です。
柾目の杉木地を使っているので美しい木目が
見られ塗りとは異なり木そのものの味わいを
感じられます。
この菓子器の側面には七宝柄が
透かし彫りされており、涼し気な雰囲気が
出ています。
七宝とは文様の一種で紡錘形を四つ結合した
輪違い紋のことを言います。
円を重ね合わせた文様は「円満さが続くこと
」を表わす吉祥文で縁起のいい柄と
なっています。
茶道では、よく出てくる文様で定番と
いえるものです。
干菓子器以外にも、盛皿など様々な使い方が
できそうです。
この器は表面が木地そのものなので水分や
油などで湿った食べ物を盛らないように
ご注意ください。

Echizen Lacquerware – Cedar Wood Base – Higashi (Dry Sweets) Tray – Shippo Openwork Design
Introducing a wooden higashi (dry sweets) tray from Echizen lacquerware.
This is a flat lacquerware tray used in tea ceremony and similar settings for serving dry confections, crafted by processing a base of cedar wood.
Because quarter-sawn cedar is used, the beautiful straight grain is clearly visible, allowing one to enjoy the natural character of the wood in a way that differs from coated lacquer finishes.
On the sides of the tray, the Shippo (Seven Treasures) pattern is carved in openwork, creating a refreshing and airy impression.
Shippo is a type of decorative motif consisting of four spindle-shaped ovals joined together to form an interlocking ring pattern.
A design in which circles overlap represents the continuity of harmony and perfection, and is regarded as an auspicious pattern.
It is a classic and frequently used motif in tea ceremony.
Beyond serving higashi, the tray can also be used in various ways, such as for presenting small dishes.
Because the surface is natural wood without lacquer coating, please avoid placing moist or oily foods directly on it.
