雪吹とは薄茶器の形状の一種で中次に属し、肩と裾に

面取りがしてあるものを言います。

吹雪の中を歩くと、上方も足元も定かではないという意からの称で

中次の上下に面取りがしてある部分のことを指していると思われます。

蓋は中次よりもやや浅く、黒の真塗は利休形となっています。

また、この茶器の蓋と身の合口は「切合口」といって、

蓋と身を密着させて漆を塗って、仕上がった後に二つに割り

合口をきれいに揃え、段差を目立たなくする技法を使っています。

Introducing a wooden fubuki-style tea caddy from Yamanaka lacquerware.

The fubuki (literally “snowstorm”) is a type of thin tea caddy (usuchaki), classified under the natsume category, characterized by chamfered edges on both the shoulder and the base.

Its name is said to originate from the image of walking through a snowstorm, where both the upper and lower visibility are obscured—reflected in the beveled design on the top and bottom of the caddy.

The lid is slightly shallower than that of a standard natsume, and the sleek black shinnuri (glossy lacquer) finish follows the Rikyū-gata (Rikyū-style) form.

This tea caddy employs a kiriai-guchi joint, a meticulous technique where the lid and body are tightly joined during the lacquering process, then cleanly separated after finishing. The edges are precisely aligned to create a seamless connection with minimal visual or tactile disruption.

此外，此茶器的蓋與身之結合處採用了名為「切合口」的技法，
即在蓋與本體緊密結合的狀態下施漆，待漆乾後再將其切割開來，
使蓋與身的接合線整齊對齊，並盡量消除段差，呈現流暢的外觀。
