The interior is finished with makiji, a traditional lacquerware technique where lacquer is applied directly to the wooden surface, followed by a sprinkling of powdered clay or stone (such as jinoko or tonoko), giving it a textured, slightly rough feel.

This makiji finish is highly durable and resistant to scratches, making it ideal for the interior of soup bowls, which endure frequent use.

The wooden body has been expertly turned to a thin, refined form, resulting in a bowl that feels remarkably light and delicate.
