清水焼から瓢箪（ひょうたん）の抹茶碗の

ご紹介です。

白土をろくろ成形し六つのカラフルな瓢箪が

手描きされています。

六つの瓢箪（ひょうたん）、つまり六瓢

（むびょう）と病気をしない無病

（むびょう）をかけた縁起のいい

抹茶碗です。

病気をせずに元気で居られますようにと

願いを込めて作られた抹茶碗です。

末広がりの形をした瓢箪は、昔からお守りや

厄除けとして広く用いられてきました。

蔓がのび実が鈴なりになるので「子孫繁栄」

「家運興隆」を意味し豊臣秀吉が馬印に

千成瓢箪を使っていたことは有名で

「必勝祈願」や「立身出世」も

意味しています。

瓢箪は緑、えんじ、黄、紫、青など艶深く

色彩豊かに手描きされ、金の縁取りと

金散らしが見られ豪華な風合いがあります。

Introducing a matcha bowl from Kyo ware, adorned with hand-painted gourds (hyōtan).

Crafted on a potter’s wheel using white clay, this bowl features six colorful gourds, each meticulously hand-painted.

The six gourds—mu-byō (literally “six hyōtan”)—form a visual and linguistic play on words with mu-byō (meaning “no illness”), making this a highly auspicious matcha bowl symbolizing good health and protection from sickness.
