お盆（膳）です。

彫った木地に、うるしを何度も摺り込んで

塗装されているので非常に丈夫で、耐久性が

大変高い作りとなっています。

手彫りで彫った部分や木地の漆を吸う度合の

違いでお盆の表面の濃淡やノミ彫りの変化が

あり、それが自然の表情となっています。

同じ木材、同じ職人が作っても、二つと同じ

物は出来ず、それが個々のお盆の個性と

なっています。

このお盆はお膳としても運び盆としても

両方に使うことが出来非常に重宝します。

縁が少し上がっているのとノミ彫りの凹凸が

上の器が滑り落ちるのを防いでくれます。

お盆がテーブルから持ち上げやすいように、

お盆の裏のすべての縁が斜めにカットされて

いて、指が入ることで持ちやすく使いやすい

ように工夫されています。

見た目よりも、薄手に作られているので、

表面のざっくりとした感じの割には繊細さを

感じて頂けます。

厚くないので実際の使い勝手はとても良好で

かさばりません。

とても耐久性が高く、傷も目立たないので、

Introducing a wooden hollowed square tray (zen) crafted in Sanuki lacquerware.

Carved from solid wood and painstakingly shaped by skilled artisans, this tray is created by hand, with each chisel stroke carefully executed—an extremely labor-intensive process.

After carving, the wood base is repeatedly coated with suri-urushi (wiped lacquer), making it highly durable and exceptionally strong.

The variations in the hand-carved chisel marks and the differing degrees to which the wood absorbs lacquer give the surface its unique shading and natural expression. Even when made from the same wood by the same craftsman, no two trays are ever identical—each one has its own individuality.

This tray can be used both as a dining tray (zen) or as a serving tray, making it extremely versatile.

The slightly raised rim and the uneven surface created by the chisel carving help prevent dishes from slipping.

For ease of handling, all the underside edges of the tray are beveled so fingers can easily fit underneath, allowing it to be lifted smoothly from a table.

Although it appears robust with its bold carved texture, the tray is made relatively thin, giving it a refined delicacy. Its moderate thickness also ensures excellent usability and prevents it from being bulky.
