越前塗から木製、桐材の溜塗の茶箱の

ご紹介です。

茶箱とは茶道の点前道具を一式仕込んだ

携帯用の箱のことです。（箱のみ）

抹茶を旅先や野点（野外）で点てて

飲むための木製の箱です。

塗りや材質は様々ですが、最初の利休型は

桐木地で宗旦好みは朱塗り一閑張りです。

茶筅を納めるための穴が空いた掛け子蓋が

付きます。

本来、茶箱には点前の決まりはありません

でしたが裏千家では、玄々斎宗室によって、

点前が考案されました。

この茶箱は溜塗一色のシンプルな

デザインです。

木地の風合いが分かり、飽きの来ない

永く使える茶箱です。

内側は黒一色でこちらもシンプルです。

この焦げ茶色というのか、チョコレート色と

いうのか落ち着きのある色は高級な雰囲気を

感じることができます。

とても軽いので手軽に持ち運んで頂けます。

昔の茶人は旅先でも、こうした茶箱を

持ちこんで、お茶を楽しんだことが

分かります。

茶の湯は常に身近な存在だったのでしょう。

箱の風合いがとてもいいので、収納箱と

してもお使い頂けます。

Here is a wooden tea box made of paulownia, finished in tame-nuri lacquer from Echizen.

A chabako is a portable box that contains a complete set of tea utensils used for the tea ceremony (this item is the box only).
It is a wooden box designed for preparing and enjoying matcha while traveling or for nodate (outdoor tea gatherings).

Chabako come in various woods and lacquer finishes, but the earliest Rikyū-style boxes were made of plain paulownia, while the Sōtan-preferred style featured vermilion ikkanbari (paper-mâché lacquer).

This box includes a kakeko lid with a hole for storing the tea whisk.

Originally, there were no fixed procedures for chabako temae, but in the Urasenke tradition, the tea procedures were formalized by Gengensai Sōshitsu.

This tea box features a simple design in a single tame-nuri (deep amber-brown) finish.

The natural grain and character of the wood remain visible, making it a timeless tea box that can be used for many years.

The interior is entirely black — also very simple.

Whether described as a deep brown or a chocolate-like tone, the color has a calm, refined presence that gives it a sense of luxury.

It is very light in weight, making it easy to carry.

From accounts of tea practitioners in earlier times, we know they would take such chabako with them on their travels to enjoy tea wherever they went.
For them, tea was always a familiar and ever-present part of life.

The box has a wonderfully warm, natural appearance, so it may also be used as a storage box.
