木曽塗から一閑張の小物入れのご紹介です。

一閑張（いっかんばり）とは漆工芸の一種で

和紙をうるしで張り重ねたものを器胎とした

漆器をいいます。

大変軽くて変形しづらく、ざんぐりした

味わいがあります。

江戸時代初期に飛来一閑（ひらいいっかん）

が創始したことから、こう呼ばれるように

なりました。

この文庫は厚紙の上に和紙を張り柿渋を塗り

直接うるしを塗って仕上げられています。

純日本紙の楮（こうぞ）、三椏（みつまた）

などの原料の紙を用い、糊などは一切使わず

生漆一本で塗り上げているので、ほとんど

堅地の塗りと遜色ない高級品となります。

和紙の風合い、柿渋とうるしの色が調和し

しっとりとした味わい深いものに

なっています。

複数の異なる素材を重ねているため所々に

凹凸や濃淡などの変化があり手づくりの証と

なっています。

ハガキ大を余裕で入れられるサイズなので

実用的で使いやすくなっています。

和紙を使っていますので、水洗いは避けて頂き

濡れ布巾で軽く拭く程度にして下さい。

Kiso Lacquerware – Ikkanbari Accessory Case, Urushi Lacquer Finish

Introducing an Ikkanbari accessory case from Kiso lacquerware.

Ikkanbari is a form of traditional lacquer craftsmanship in which layers of Japanese paper are pasted together with urushi lacquer to form the body of the vessel.

It is extremely lightweight, resistant to deformation, and has a rustic, handcrafted charm.

The name originated from Hirai Ikkan, who established this technique in the early Edo period.

This document-style case is made by applying Japanese paper over thick paperboard, coating it with persimmon tannin, and finishing it directly with urushi lacquer.

Using traditional Japanese papers made from natural fibers such as kozo (mulberry) and mitsumata, and without using any glue or adhesives, the piece is finished entirely with raw urushi lacquer. As a result, it achieves a level of quality comparable to solid lacquerware with a hard foundation coating.

The texture of the washi paper harmonizes beautifully with the colors of the persimmon tannin and urushi lacquer, creating a refined and deeply elegant appearance.

Because multiple different materials are layered together, subtle irregularities, variations in tone, and surface textures can be seen throughout, serving as evidence of its handmade character.

Sized generously enough to hold postcard-sized items with ease, it is both practical and convenient to use.

As it is made using washi paper, please avoid washing it with water. Simply wipe it gently with a damp cloth for care.
