波佐見焼から水晶彫りの湯呑のご紹介です。

「水晶彫り」とは、生地に細かい穴を無数に

あけて、その穴の中にガラス釉を一つずつ

入れていき、１３００度の高温で焼いた

焼物のことです。

ガラス釉の透明感が、まるで水晶のように

美しいことから、この名前が

付いたようです。

生地を彫る作業や穴をうめていく作業は

すべて、熟練職人の手作業によるもので

気の遠くなるような大変な手間と高度な

技術が必要とされます。

良質な磁器を使い、高温で焼いた生地には、

涼し気な青海波の柄が手描きで

描かれていて、より一層さわやかさが

増しています。

とても軽く手触りもすべすべで持ちやすく

Hasami Ware Crystal-Carved Yunomi Tea Cup with Seigaiha Pattern

Introducing a crystal-carved yunomi tea cup from Hasami ware.

“Crystal carving” (suishō-bori) is a unique ceramic technique in which countless tiny holes are meticulously carved into the porcelain body. Each hole is then individually filled with a transparent glass glaze, and the piece is fired at a high temperature of approximately 1,300°C (2,372°F).

The technique is said to have received its name because the transparency and brilliance of the glass glaze resemble the beauty of crystal.

Both the carving of the porcelain body and the filling of the tiny holes are performed entirely by skilled artisans by hand. The process requires extraordinary patience, tremendous effort, and a high level of craftsmanship.

Made from high-quality porcelain and fired at a high temperature, the cup is decorated with a hand-painted Seigaiha (traditional blue ocean wave) pattern. The refreshing wave motif further enhances its cool and elegant appearance.

This yunomi is remarkably lightweight, with a smooth, silky texture that feels comfortable in the hand and makes it easy to use.

Because the interior can be seen faintly through the outer surface, it offers a unique experience that combines the qualities of both porcelain and glass.
