木地は樹齢１５０年から２００年の材料を
使い、木は変形する性質があるので
通気性をよくして数年間、乾燥させます。
塗りはうるしが使われており、木地磨き、
目止め、下塗り、仕上げ磨き、摺り漆、
コクソ巻き、すり漆、上塗り、乾燥と、
多くの工程を経て作られています。
うるしの皮膜は半永久的に呼吸し続けるので
通気性がよく、うるしそのものに抗菌作用が
あるので、中の食材が傷みにくくなります。
木製なので余分な水分を吸収したり、
乾燥していれば、水分を放出して、
内部の湿度を保ってくれるので、食材が
乾燥し過ぎたり、水分でべたべたになるのを
防いでくれます。
結果、食材をより美味しい状態に
保ってくれます。

The wood used for the base is sourced from trees that are approximately 150 to 200 years old. Since wood naturally has a tendency to warp or deform, it is well ventilated and dried for several years before being made into the finished piece.
Urushi, or genuine Japanese lacquer, is used for the finish. The piece is created through numerous processes, including polishing the wood, sealing the grain, applying a base coat, final polishing, wiping on urushi lacquer, applying kokuso, additional coats of wiped urushi, top coating, and drying.
The film of urushi lacquer continues to breathe almost permanently, providing good breathability. Urushi itself also has antibacterial properties, helping the food stored inside to remain in good condition for longer.
Because it is made of wood, it absorbs excess moisture and, when the interior is dry, releases moisture, helping to maintain a balanced level of humidity inside. This helps prevent food from becoming excessively dry or overly moist and sticky.
As a result, it helps keep food in a more delicious condition.
