美濃焼の代名詞ともいえる志野焼の器です。
志野焼は大変手間のかかる焼き方をするため
専門のノウハウがあり、独自の技術が
必要となります。
従って、他の産地で真似て作ることが
非常に難しくなっています。
そのため志野焼は美濃焼でしか見られなく
なっており美濃焼独自の焼き物といえます。
人が完全にコントロールできない焼き物の
独自の世界がそこにはあります。
気温や湿度、天候などの様々な条件で
変化して、同じものが絶対に出来ない
独自の炎の芸術といっても
過言ではありません。
力強いイメージで作られており、微妙な
釉薬の色合いと焼成で志野独特の世界観を
作りあげています。
このぐい呑みは正面の鉄釉の柄が特徴と
なっており茶褐色の草画が描かれ
独特の風合いを出しています。
また、白い釉薬の垂れや赤茶色に変化した
跡も見られ志野焼きの窯変の特徴がいくつも
見ることが出来ます。
切立型ですが、胴には若干丸みがあり
口の下で一旦くびれ、その上の口は外側に
反っており、飲みやすくなっています。
胴回りにはろくろ目があったり、削ぎが
あったり全体にピンホールが無数にあったり
とても変化に富んでいます。
その変化が手にしっくりと馴染み、
持ちやすく安定感もあります。

We are pleased to introduce this Shino guinomi sake cup made by Ryoji Hayashi of Sōzan Kiln in Mino ware.
This is a piece of Shino ware, which can be considered synonymous with Mino ware.
Because Shino ware requires a highly labor-intensive firing process, specialized knowledge and unique techniques are necessary to produce it.
Therefore, it is extremely difficult to reproduce Shino ware in other pottery-producing regions.
For this reason, Shino ware is now found only in Mino ware and can be regarded as a type of pottery unique to Mino ware.
There is a unique world of pottery here that cannot be completely controlled by human hands.
It is no exaggeration to call it a unique art of flame, as the results change according to various conditions such as temperature, humidity, and weather, making it impossible to create exactly the same piece twice.
This piece has been created with a powerful character, while subtle variations in the glaze colors and firing have created the distinctive world of Shino ware.
The most distinctive feature of this guinomi is the iron-glazed design on the front. A brownish, grass-like motif has been painted, creating a unique texture and character.
There are also areas where the white glaze has dripped and places where the glaze has changed to a reddish-brown color. These provide several characteristic examples of the kiln effects, or yōhen, found in Shino ware.
Although it has a straight-sided form, the body has a slight roundness. It narrows slightly below the rim, while the rim itself flares outward, making it comfortable to drink from.
The body has a great deal of variation, including wheel marks and shaved areas, as well as numerous pinholes throughout the surface.
These variations fit comfortably in the hand, making the guinomi easy to hold and giving it a stable feel.
