美濃焼の代表的な焼き物の一つに

志野焼があります。

他の産地には見られない焼物の一つです。

志野焼といえば、林亮次氏の荘山窯が

有名です。

志野にも様々な種類がありますが、

この抹茶碗は「朱志野」といって

赤志野よりも薄く、紅志野よりも濃く、

赤と紅の中間の色合いとなっており

あまり見られない大変珍しい志野に

仕上げられています。

薄い赤茶色で色の濃淡もよく見られ、

焼物の味わいを存分に感じられる風合いと

なっています。

全体に志野特有のピンホールが無数に見られ

所々に白い釉薬の流れと複雑な窯変が見所に

なっています。

釉薬を掛ける時の作家の指跡が見られ、

景色の一つとなっています。

ろくろ目がうっすら見られ、

縦方向の削ぎが随所にあります。

これらの凹凸が手にしっくりときて、

持ちやすくなっています。

形は寸胴型の切立で深さがあり、

手におさまるちょうどいいサイズで

力強いものとなっています。

Introducing a Shino-style matcha bowl from Shōzan Kiln, founded by Ryoji Hayashi, a renowned Mino ware potter.

One of the most representative types of Mino ware is Shino ware.

It is a distinctive style of pottery rarely found in other ceramic-producing regions.

When it comes to Shino ware, Shōzan Kiln, led by Ryoji Hayashi, is particularly well known.

There are various types of Shino ware, and this matcha bowl is known as “Aka Shino” (Vermilion Shino).

Its color is lighter than Aka Shino (Red Shino) and deeper than Beni Shino (Crimson Shino), placing it between the two shades of red. It has been finished in an exceptionally rare and seldom-seen variation of Shino ware.

The glaze has a light reddish-brown tone with beautiful variations in depth and intensity, creating a rich texture that allows one to fully appreciate the character and charm of the pottery.

Numerous pinholes, characteristic of Shino ware, can be seen across the entire surface. In places, the flowing white glaze and complex effects produced during firing (yōhen) create particularly attractive visual features.

The potter's fingerprints, left when applying the glaze, are also visible and form part of the bowl's unique surface character.

Subtle wheel marks can be seen, along with vertical facets carved into the surface in various places.

These irregularities and textured details fit naturally and comfortably in the hand, making the bowl easy to hold.

The shape is a straight-sided, cylindrical form with a deep interior. It is a well-proportioned size that fits comfortably in the hands and has a bold, powerful presence.
