山中塗から木製くりぬきのろくろ目盆のご紹介です。

栃の木をくり抜いて作った、木製のお盆です。

このお盆、実は茶道で使う略点前盆を写して作ったお盆です。

略点前とは、お盆の上に道具を乗せて抹茶を点てる茶道の初歩的なお点前です。

お盆全体が同心円状のろくろ目の筋が入っており、デザインとなっています。

この筋が持ち運びの際、器や持った手などの滑り止めの役割も担っており、

更にお点前がやりやすいように平らな部分が広く、縁は高めに作られており、

使いやすくなっています。

すり漆塗をされているので、木の風合いを直接感じることが出来ます。

また、傷も目立ちにくいので、気軽にお使い頂けます。

径が33㎝と大きなお盆ですが、プラスチック製とは異なり比較的軽く

使い勝手もいいと思われます。

This is an introduction to a wooden lathe-turned tray (rokuro-me bon) in Yamanaka lacquerware, made from kaya (Japanese horse chestnut) and finished with suri-urushi lacquer, in shaku-1 sun size (33 cm).

This wooden tray is crafted by hollowing out a single piece of kaya wood.

In fact, this tray is modeled after a ryaku-demae bon, a tray used in the tea ceremony.

Ryaku-demae is a basic form of tea procedure in which the utensils are placed on a tray and matcha is prepared on top of it.

The entire surface of the tray is decorated with concentric lathe-turned rings (rokuro-me), which form part of the design. These grooves also serve a practical purpose, helping to prevent the utensils and the hands holding the tray from slipping when it is carried.

In addition, the tray has a wide flat central area to make tea preparation easier, and the rim is made slightly higher, enhancing its ease of use.

Because it is finished with suri-urushi lacquer, you can directly feel the natural texture of the wood. Scratches are also less noticeable, allowing it to be used casually without concern.

Although it is a large tray with a diameter of 33 cm, it is relatively lightweight compared to plastic trays, and is comfortable and practical to use.
