山中塗から木製の茄子　香合のご紹介です。

香合とは香を入れる蓋付きの器で、茶道で炭斗に仕組んだり

棚に飾ったり、帛紗や紙釜敷にのせて床の間に飾ったりもします。

風炉の時期は香木を入れるため、漆器が使われ

炉の時期は練り香を入れるため、陶磁器製が使われます。

鑑賞の対象となることが多く、大変多くの種類があります。

この香合は木をくりぬき、削って、茄子の形を作り

へたなどを付けて、紫の色漆を塗って仕上げたものです。

ほんのりと薄い紫色は、なんとも言えない自然な色をしています。

ベッタリと均一的に色漆を塗っている訳ではなく、濃淡を付けて塗られており

木地の色が部分的に現れており、表面の風合いに変化が与えられています。

へたの部分も本物のように良く出来ています。

茄子の旬は、７月から８月頃なので夏の茶事にお使い頂けます。

Yamanaka Lacquerware – Wooden Incense Container (Kōgō), Eggplant Design, Urushi Lacquer

From Yamanaka lacquerware, we present a wooden incense container (kōgō) in the shape of an eggplant.

A kōgō is a lidded container for incense, used in the tea ceremony to hold incense when arranging the charcoal set, or displayed on a shelf, or placed on a fukusa or paper trivet in the alcove as decoration.

During the furo (brazier) season, lacquerware kōgō are typically used for holding fragrant wood, while in the ro (sunken hearth) season, ceramic kōgō are used for kneaded incense.
Because of their decorative quality, kōgō are often appreciated as objects of art, and they exist in a wide variety of forms.

This particular kōgō is made by hollowing out and carving wood into the shape of an eggplant, complete with its calyx, and then finishing it with purple urushi lacquer.
The subtle, soft purple hue has a natural charm that is difficult to describe. The lacquer is not applied in a flat, uniform coat, but instead with gradations of light and dark, allowing the natural color of the wood to show through in places and giving the surface a varied, textured appearance.
The calyx is also finely crafted, resembling the real thing.

Since eggplants are in season from July to August, this kōgō is suitable for use in summer tea gatherings.

淡雅的浅紫色呈现出一种难以言喻的自然之美。
并非一味均匀涂覆色漆，而是通过浓淡层次的变化来施漆，
使得木胎的本色在部分位置若隐若现，
为表面增添了丰富的质感与变化。

茄蒂部分也仿真度极高，宛如真物。

茄子的时令在7月至8月，
因此非常适合夏季茶事中使用。
