清水焼から御室窯の水指のご紹介です。

水指とは茶道の席中で釜に補給する水や、

茶碗や茶筅をすすぐ水を蓄えておく器です。

絵柄はオランダ写しとなっていますが、

この「オランダ」とは江戸時代にオランダ船

で日本にもたらされた陶磁器の総称ですが

茶道などでは、この水指に描かれている

黄色や青色や緑色で描かれている

「煙草の葉」が描かれている柄を

「オランダ」と呼んでいます。

この柄は、抹茶碗や水指などに広く使われ、

茶人の間でも古来より尊重されてきました。

「煙草の葉」が唐草文様の間に大きく

描かれていて絵筆が生き生きとしているのが
