讃岐塗から天然木をくり抜いて作った

丸盆のご紹介です。

素地に天然のうるしを摺り込み、幾度も

塗り重ねて仕上げたものです。

「象谷塗」（ぞうこくぬり）とは香川漆芸の

創始者　玉楮象谷（たまかじぞうこく）の

名前をとり「象谷塗」と呼ばれるように

なりました。

ろくろで加工した素地を木地固めして生漆を

刷毛で何度も摺り込み、その上に川辺や池に

群生しているイネ科の多年草の稈の中に

入っている真菰（まこも）を漆の上に撒き

さらに漆を摺り込んで仕上げます。

永年使い込むうちに艶や独特の陰影が出て、

渋い味わいが増してきます。

象谷塗は大変堅牢に出来ており、傷なども

目立ちにくいので普段の日常生活にどんどん

使って頂ける漆器です。

お盆全体に施されている、ろくろ目が

荒々しさを表現して独特のデザインとなって

おり手作りの温かみと滑り止めの役割にも

なっています。

他の色を加色せず、黒一色のシックな

風合いとなっています。

素材感を活かしたシンプルなデザインは、

飽きが来ず永くお使い頂けます。

Introduction to the Sanuki Lacquered Wooden Carved Round Tray

This is a round tray made by hollowing out natural wood from Sanuki. The base is coated with natural lacquer, and the finish is achieved by repeatedly applying lacquer.

"Zōkokunuri" (象谷塗) is named after Tamakaji Zōkoku, the founder of Kagawa lacquer art, and this term has come to represent this particular lacquer technique.

The base is processed on a lathe and then strengthened with wood stabilizers. Fresh lacquer is repeatedly applied with a brush. Additionally, the lacquered surface is sprinkled with makomo (a type of reed) found in riverbanks and ponds, and more lacquer is applied to finish.

Over time, the tray develops a unique luster and distinct shading, gaining a rich and subdued charm. Zōkokunuri is made to be very durable and resistant to damage, making it suitable for everyday use.

The lathe-turned texture across the tray’s surface conveys a rugged appearance, contributing to its unique design. It also provides a handmade warmth and prevents slipping.

The tray is finished in a chic, monochromatic black without added colors. Its simple design, which emphasizes the natural texture of the material, ensures that it remains stylish and usable for a long time.
