茶道でも使われる円座（えんざ）の
「上もの」のご紹介です。
円座とは座る時に下に敷く、円形に編んだ
座具のことです。
茶道では茶室の露地にある腰掛待合などで
使われますが、囲炉裏の周りや板の間や
木の椅子の上に敷いたりして使うことが
出来ます。
こちらの円座は茶道の立礼の点前で使う
椅子の上に置くことが出来るよう径が
３０cmとなっています。
和の家などでは座布団とは異なった雰囲気が
よく合う場合もあります。
通常は、藁（わら）・菅（すげ）・
菰（まこも）・竹の皮で編まれています。
こちらの円座は、菅（すげ）の葉で
編まれていますが、その材料も吟味されて
おり色が白くきれいな葉の部分を
使用しています。
また、編み方も熟練の職人さんによって、
細かくしっかりと編まれているので
グスグスではなく目が詰まったカチッとした
出来栄えになっています。
