信楽焼から湯沸しができる手づくり急須の

薄茶色の土をろくろ挽きで成形し無釉で

焼き締めて作られています。

耐熱土で出来ているので、直火で湯を

沸かすことができる急須です。

本来、煎茶道で使われる「湯沸し」とか

「ボーフラ」と呼ばれ「涼炉」と呼ばれる

小型の湯を沸かす道具の上に置いて

使われます。

土ものですが薄手に作られているので、

軽く扱いやすく、精巧に出来ており、

作り手の技術の高さが分かります。

表面は細かなろくろ目と、赤みを帯びた

緋色が見られ、土ものの温かみがあります。

持ち手が上部に付いており固定式で

Introducing a handmade teapot for boiling water (Yuwakashi or Bōfura) from Shigaraki ware.

This teapot is crafted from light brown clay, shaped on a potter’s wheel, and fired without glaze, creating a burnished finish. Made from heat-resistant clay, this teapot can be used directly over an open flame to boil water.

Traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony, it is called a "Yuwakashi" or "Bōfura" and is placed on a small heating device known as a "Ryōro" to boil water.

Though it is made from clay, the teapot is thin and lightweight, making it easy to handle, while also showcasing the high level of craftsmanship of the artisan. The surface features fine wheel marks and a reddish hue, giving it the warm, earthy feel of traditional pottery.

The teapot has a fixed handle located at the top, offering a distinctive design. Inside the spout, there is a single hole.

This teapot allows you to boil water and enjoy delicious tea. However, please avoid sudden temperature changes, as it may be prone to damage.
